Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece targeted at the Louvre Museum. According to several videos circulating on social networks, a man threw a piece of cake on the table of The Mona Lisa, Sunday May 29. The broadcast images show the window of theearly 16th century work partially covered in cream, later cleaned by museum guards.

“It seems unreal to me, but a man dressed as an old lady got up from a wheelchair and tried to break the protective glass of the Mona Lisa”said on Twitter a person who filmed the scene. “He then smeared cake on the window, threw roses all around him before being subdued by security”described this witness.

One of the witnesses then filmed the alleged perpetrator of this act, while he was directed to the exit by museum agents. “Think about the Earth. There are people who are destroying the Earth. Think about it”claims this person. “All artists, think of the Earth. That’s why I did this. Think of the planet”, he insists.

An investigation for “attempted degradation of cultural property” was opened after the entartage of the Mona Lisa, announces the Paris prosecutor’s office to franceinfo. According to this same source, the alleged perpetrator, aged 36, was admitted to the psychiatric infirmary of the Paris police headquarters. The investigations were entrusted to the local reception and investigation service (SAIP8).
