Normand Ladouceur was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Montérégie in connection with the murder of Thérèse Desbiens. The day before, the Sûreté du Québec had launched a search notice concerning him.
The 66-year-old man is suspected of having killed Thérèse Desbiens last Saturday. He then fled in a red 2014 Ford Focus vehicle. On Monday, the Sûreté du Québec had launched a search notice to try to find him.
The publications have paid off. Tuesday afternoon, around 4 p.m., the sexagenarian was found in the parking lot of a commercial establishment on rue Péloquin, in Sorel-Tracy. Information from the public would have made it possible to trace him, said Sergeant Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
Recall that around 1 p.m. on Saturday, patrol officers from the City of Mercier Police Department were called to go to an apartment on rue Bourcier, for a person “found lifeless”.
On the spot, they located the body of Thérèse Desbiens, 77 years old. From the outset, the case was treated as a suspicious death. A command post had been erected on the spot. Investigators and forensic technicians from the Sûreté du Québec were sent to the scene.
On Monday, investigators launched the public notice concerning Mr. Ladouceur, now suspecting him of the murder of Mr.me Goods. According to information from the authorities, the two people lived in the same building, but not at the same address.
Normand Ladouceur is expected to appear at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse on Wednesday, according to Sergeant Bilodeau.
