It was a call to 911 shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday morning that alerted the police to the armed attack that took place inside the building located on rue de Charleroi, near boulevard Sainte-Gertrude.

“When the police arrive on the scene, they locate a victim, a man aged around 30 years. He was conscious and injured in the upper body with a stab wound,” said Constable Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

The latter was transported to the hospital; his condition was immediately unknown.

“The scene was protected for investigators as well as forensic identification technicians so that they could analyze the scene and try to understand the exact circumstances of this event,” said the SPVM spokesperson.

No one was arrested and “there are no witnesses to this event,” according to agent Chèvrefils.

The SPVM investigation is continuing.
