A 29-year-old man was indicted for “attempted murder” and placed in pre-trial detention in Lille (North), suspected of having wanted to set his partner and his 7-month-old daughter on fire on Wednesday January 5, reports Friday France Blue North. On Wednesday, around 12:45 p.m., the police were called by a relative of this woman, who indicated that she was suffering violence from her companion and that she was in danger.

The police, when they got there, noticed the smell of gasoline and found the young woman locked in a room with her 7-month-old daughter. The alleged victim told them that she had an argument that very morning with her companion and that the man had sprayed them with gasoline before threatening them to set the fuel on fire with a lighter.

This 29-year-old companion was arrested while trying to flee. Presented for immediate appearance on Friday, his hearing was postponed to allow him to prepare his defense. He had already been convicted of domestic violence against his ex-partner.

In addition, the victim, aged 20, had filed a complaint in December against his companion for domestic violence, after an argument during which he threatened to give him a taser before slashing his leg with a knife. The young mother subsequently withdrew her complaint under the pressure of this man
