A man was shot Wednesday in Montreal, in broad daylight, in the Montreal-North borough.
It was a call to 911, around 4:25 p.m., which alerted the police to gunshots heard at the intersection of Avenue Shelley and Boulevard Crémazie Est.
“When the police arrived at the scene, they discovered a victim, a man, who had been shot. Unfortunately, his death was pronounced on the spot,” said Constable Mariane Allaire Morin, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
The suspect or suspects fled before the arrival of the police and “no arrest has been made for the moment,” said agent Allaire Morin.
A security perimeter was erected to protect the crime scene and to allow SPVM investigators and forensic identification technicians to do their work.
The SPVM has opened a murder investigation.
This is the ninth homicide on the island of Montreal since the beginning of the year.
