A man shot by a long gun in Lanoraie

A man in his 50s was injured after being hit by bullets from a long gun this afternoon in Lanoraie, in the Lanaudière region.

Around 2 p.m., several calls were made to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) concerning gunshots heard near Route 138 and Montée d’Autray, explained Sergeant Éloïse Cossette.

One of the calls appeared to come from the suspect himself, according to the first information available. The victim managed to flee to get help.

At the scene, the police found the man with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital center, but his life would be out of danger. The sleuths also handcuffed another man, 57, for the assault with a weapon.

There would be a link that remains to be determined between the suspect and the victim in this case. The investigation was taken over by the Major Crimes Investigation Service of the SQ.
