A man linked to organized crime murdered in a restaurant in Laval

Mobile command posts from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) and the Service de police de Laval (SPL) are stationed on Thursday morning near a restaurant in Laval where the assassination of a man associated with organized crime took place early evening Wednesday.

The man who has been known for several years for criminal activities has been identified by the Sûreté du Québec as Bernard Cherfan, 42 years old.

He was killed by at least one projectile from a firearm while he was seated at an Asian restaurant located on boulevard des Laurentides, at the intersection of rue de Catane, in the Vimont district. His death was pronounced at the hospital where he had been transported after the attack.

The Sûreté du Québec, which is responsible for the investigation, is trying to gather information in the company of SPL agents about this murder which allegedly took place in front of several witnesses, shortly before 7:30 p.m.

Thursday morning, the SQ was not yet able to provide a physical description of the suspect and still did not know if he fled on foot or in a car. It is possible that the suspect received help from accomplices.

Investigators began to comb the scene. They will check whether surveillance cameras in the area have captured images that would allow them to better understand what happened and at dawn, forensic identification technicians carried out a thorough inspection of the establishment’s parking lot.

The SQ reports that people who have information that could be useful to the investigation into this murder can communicate it to the investigators at one of the two mobile command posts.
