A man killed his wife before committing suicide, in Nieuil-l’Espoir, about fifteen kilometers southeast of Poitiers (Vienne), France Bleu Poitou reported on Monday. The bodies of the couple, both aged 60, were discovered Monday morning in a house in the town, where they had lived for around twenty years.

According to the first elements of the investigation, carried out by the Poitiers gendarmerie, the man shot his wife with a hunting rifle before turning the weapon against himself. He was unknown to the courts. The bodies are at the Forensic Institute for autopsy. An investigation into intentional homicide has been opened.
