New drama in California. A father killed his three minor children and a fourth person on Monday, February 28, before committing suicide, in a place of worship in the Californian capital, Sacramento (United States), police said. “At 5:07 p.m. this afternoon we received a call about a shooting in the church”said a local police sergeant, Rod Grassmann, during a press conference.
“We discovered a grown man, a father who opened fire and killed his three children, all under the age of 15”he explained, adding that a “fifth person was also deceased” without being able to say if she had a link with the other victims. After the tragedy, the shooter killed himself. “It is at this stage a kind of incident related to domestic violence”said Rod Grassmann.
Sacramento Sheriff’s Department was unable at this stage to clarify why the shooter and victims were in the small building serving as a Christian place of worship, whose religious affiliation remained unclear as of Monday night.
“Another act of senseless gun violence in America, this time at home. In a church where children were”wrote on Twitter (link in English) California Governor Gavin Newsom saying he is “absolutely appalled”.
