Armed violence made a new victim Friday evening when a 31-year-old man was coldly shot in his vehicle parked in a quiet neighborhood of Laval.
“I heard screams, but I didn’t understand where it was coming from. There was a lot of noise, then several police cars arrived, ”explained Mario Pena, a new resident of the Saint-François district, in Laval.
The burst of gunfire occurred at the corner of rue du Canada, near rue de l’Harmonie. Police were called to the scene around 11:20 p.m.
A dozen shots from what would be a machine gun rang out from a vehicle, riddled with bullets Stéphane Risler Achille, seated in his Jeep Cherokee. His death was pronounced on the spot.
According to our information, this Laval resident, who had been convicted of drug possession in 2015, would be involved in drug trafficking.
Concerned residents
In the aftermath of the events, several residents of the normally peaceful neighborhood were visibly concerned by this murder which occurred in the middle of the street.
“It’s a very quiet corner, let’s say it’s gripping,” exclaimed Sheila Boris-Leclerc, who lives in the building next to the crime scene. I’m not worried, but we don’t know, I could have been hit by a stray bullet, I understand that there was one in one of the apartments in front of my house. We are never safe from anything. “.
Many neighbors ventured near the security perimeter to try to understand what could have happened.
A few were awakened by the volley of gunfire which many said sounded like straight shots on metal. The detonations would have lasted a few seconds.
Residents interviewed by Le Journal fear seeing an escalation of violence in their peaceful living environment.
No arrest
Remember that 87% of firearm crimes that took place on the territory of Laval between January 2021 and August 2022 were linked to criminal organizations.
No arrests had been made as of Saturday evening. The Sûreté du Québec will work in collaboration with the Service de police de Laval in this case.
