A man is shot and killed in a parking lot in Dollard-des-Ormeaux

A man was shot and killed in a parking lot in Dollard-des-Ormeaux late Tuesday afternoon in the Montreal metropolitan area.

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) confirmed having received several calls around 5:50 p.m. regarding shots fired and a man injured by gunfire in the parking lot of a shopping center, near Boulevard des Sources and the Brunswick Boulevard.

SPVM spokesperson Jeanne Drouin indicated that paramedical services had gone to the scene to assist the victim, a 42-year-old man, injured in the upper body.

The victim, whose identity remains to be confirmed, died at the scene of the crime.

According to initial information obtained by the SPVM, the victim was struck while he was in a vehicle in the parking lot. “The suspect(s) allegedly fled in a vehicle before the police arrived,” underlined Officer Drouin.

A large perimeter was established on site to protect the scene and allow investigators and technicians to carry out a complete analysis of the scene.

Later in the evening, SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant clarified that a command post was set up at the crime scene and that the investigation was continuing to determine the circumstances of the shooting.

The SPVM has not made any arrests in connection with the crime for the moment.

Several vehicles and passers-by, with no apparent link to the shooting, but shocked, were in the parking lot of the shopping center at the time of the incident, the place having, among other things, restaurants and a gym.
