A man in his thirties lost his life after being pulled from his vehicle, which had sunk in the St. Lawrence River, in Boucherville, on the South Shore of Montreal.
The driver was traveling around 3 a.m. on boulevard Marie-Victorin when he left the road at boulevard Montarville to find himself in the St. Lawrence River.
The police who arrived on the scene asked for the help of firefighters and water rescue to extricate the vehicle, according to a spokesperson for the Longueuil agglomeration police department.
The driver was found in the vehicle and transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities searched the area to make sure there were no other casualties from the accident. During the day, the police confirmed that the driver was indeed alone in his car at the time of the accident.
The cause of the loss of control has not yet been determined.
Investigators were dispatched to the scene to reconstruct the facts and try to better understand what really happened, it was added.
