(Montreal) A 34-year-old man was injured by a projectile from a firearm on the night of Saturday to Sunday, in Montreal, when his parked vehicle was targeted.

The victim was injured in the upper body and then transported to the hospital, but the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) confirmed early Sunday that his life was no longer in danger.
The incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. It was at this time that citizens reported to 9-1-1 that shots had been fired in the borough of LaSalle, southwest of the town, on rue Bergevin.
When they arrived at the scene, the SPVM police officers found the vehicle whose driver, who was not known to the police, had been hit by a projectile.
Also in the vehicle was a 31-year-old man in the passenger seat. The latter was not affected, but the SPVM confirmed that he was known to its investigators.
According to initial information from the Montreal police, the two men were in the parked car when another vehicle approached and its occupant or occupants opened fire.
The suspect vehicle managed to flee before police arrived, so no immediate arrests were made.
The scene, which is located at the intersection of Bergevin and Clément streets, has been protected to allow investigators and forensic identification technicians to pick up clues.
The SPVM canine unit was also dispatched to the scene, while witnesses were met during the night.
