A Russian-Ukrainian man was taken into custody after being “taken care of by firefighters in a hotel in Val-d’Oise when he had significant burns following an explosion”, reports the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (Pnat), Wednesday June 5, confirming information from the Sunday newspaper.

This 26-year-old man was taken into care on Monday evening. On the scene, the first observations “led to the discovery of products and materials intended for the manufacture of explosive devices. One of these devices had exploded”, specifies the Pnat.

The national anti-terrorism prosecution announces the opening of an investigation, to “participation in a terrorist criminal association with a view to preparing crimes of attacks against persons”, and for “possession of incendiary or explosive substances or products or elements intended to compose an incendiary or explosive device, with a view to preparing destruction, damage or harm to persons, in connection with a terrorist enterprise”. The Pnat specifies that the investigation is entrusted to the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI).
