A man died after being shot during a police intervention by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal on Saturday afternoon in Île-des-Soeurs.
Around 12:32 p.m., SPVM police officers were informed that a man, possibly armed, was walking near the intersection of René Lévesque Boulevard and Berlioz Street, in Île-des-Sœurs.
Locate by a police officer, the man would have pointed a handgun in the direction of the latter who would have fired at least one shot, indicated the Office of Independent Investigations (BEI).
Seriously injured, the man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Five BEI investigators have been assigned to investigate the circumstances of the event, the office said.
