He is last seen Monday morning. This man in his fifties comes down from the accommodation of the Calais mutual aid association, which he occupies rue Monseigneur-Piedfort, in Calais, in the room to ask for photocopies of identity documents. The next day, around 3:30 p.m., a volunteer comes up to bring him the photocopies. He finds the dead victim, lying on his bed.

Found “in a pool of blood”

“He was in a pool of blood”, explains the president of the association Jean-Luc Hingrand. He describes a solitary man, without a family. “Sometimes we didn’t see him for two weeks.” The victim was a volunteer with the association for two years, between 2018 and 2020.”We had to stop his participation because of alcohol problems”, adds the president of the association. According to him, there were no traces of violence on the body. The police investigation will have to determine the causes of this death. The association has approximately 2,000 beneficiaries in Calais.
