A terrible scene is reported by France 3 Provence. This Saturday, a man cut his throat in front of customers at the Hema store, located on the Canebière, in Marseille, near the Old Port.
The man in his thirties is said to have climbed upstairs to the store, before using a knife from the kitchen department to end his life. He is dead. The Marseille firefighters who are right next to the scene of the tragedy did not manage to save the young man.
The busy low-cost home goods store has lowered its iron curtain. The staff are in shock.
An investigation is opened on the motivations and the exact circumstances of the tragedy.
