On December 12, in the evening, a person attacked several passers-by with an ax in the Lidl store in Jeumont before turning the weapon against them. Two people are seriously injured, two others were injured more lightly.
How can this outburst of violence be explained? On the evening of Monday, December 12, around 7 p.m., a chopper attack took place in the Lidl store in Jeumont.
According to the first information, given by our colleagues from the Voice of the North, the assailant is said to have seriously injured two people and slightly injured a third. Additional information provided by AFP reveals that a fourth person is also among the lightly injured. In all, ten people were present in the store.
According to a police source relayed by AFP, the man – who also carried two knives – then tried to end his life by injuring his throat, without succeeding. The vital prognosis of the two seriously injured is not engaged, contrary to that of the author.
No element, at this stage of the investigation, allows us to put forward any motivation for this gesture. The assailant, in his forties, did not carry his papers with him either.
A large rescue and police force was deployed around the store, as well as an SMUR helicopter.
