A man attacked with a knife in Montreal

(Montreal) A man was injured after being stabbed with a knife on Saturday evening. The armed attack allegedly took place in an apartment in the Saint-Michel district of Montreal.

Around 10:40 p.m., a call was made to 911 for a man who was allegedly stabbed inside an apartment on Charland Avenue near Iberville Street.

Initially in critical condition, the victim was declared “out of danger” early Sunday morning, according to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

“Upon arriving at the scene, the police located a 55-year-old man who had been stabbed at least once in the upper body. He was transported to a hospital centre, ”said Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the SPVM, on Saturday evening.

It would be a conflict which would have degenerated inside the apartment which would have led to the armed attack. “During the altercation, the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim at least once with a stab in the upper body,” said officer Brabant.

After gathering information from witnesses to the event, a 51-year-old man was arrested at the scene. He will be met by investigators over the next few hours.

Avenue Charland was closed overnight between rue d’Iberville and avenue Bruchési, while investigators and forensic identification technicians analyze the scene. The investigation is continuing.
