It’s time for relief in the case of the “scooter rapist”. A 22-year-old man was arrested on Friday April 5. He is suspected of rape and sexual assault on women between 20 and 27 years old.
The man placed in police custody on Friday April 5 is interviewed by the police on Saturday April 6. A DNA expertise allowed him to be confused in one of the cases for which he was actively sought. In Grenoble (Isère), investigators nicknamed him “the man with the scooter”. He used this means of transport to follow his victims. He is suspected of having committed two rapes, an attempted rape, a sexual assault and several acts of violence.
Only one rape attributable for the moment
For several weeks, significant police resources were deployed throughout the city until the arrest on Friday April 5. In these various cases, the rapes and assaults recorded seem for the most part to have been committed at night by a man dressed in black who travels on a black scooter to spot his victims. A climate of fear and apprehension marked the city. The young women we met say they are a little more reassured. At this stage of the investigation, only one rape can be attributed to the suspect, specifies the Grenoble prosecutor’s office.
