“A lot of offers abroad, in France, no!”, Emmanuelle Seigner evokes like never before, her marriage to Roman Polanski and what it cost her!

She’s back on stage… And for her comeback in the theater, Emmanuelle Seigner couldn’t dream of a better acting partner! And for good reason, in
Bungalow 21
the one who plays Marilyn Monroe plays opposite her sister Mathilde Seigner who lends her features to Simone Signoret.

A play by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt and thought up by Benjamin Castaldi which has already seen the light of day at the Théâtre de la Madeleine… For the occasion, Emmanuelle Seigner was the guest of C the weeklythis Saturday September 23, 2023. The opportunity for the artist to reveal the reason why, in her opinion, she has not appeared in a French film for many years.

“I have a lot of offers abroad. Besides, I just made a film with Willem Dafoe in New York, but in France no”, she first declared. And immediately explain why she was “cancelled” by the profession in France.

“I had a marriage that bothers some people and what’s more, I defended my husband in a book,”she said on the set of the weekly France 5 show. A marriage which obviously refers to her union with Roman Polanski, a director accused in particular of having drugged and raped Samantha Gailey, a 13-year-old teenager, in the 70s.

As a reminder, in his work entitled A life set on fireEmmanuelle Seigner had referred to Roman Polanski by assuring that “all the women wanted to sleep with [son] husband”.

“It may come as a surprise, but it was a time. I saw all that and I lived it. I saw how women were with him. I saw it and I’m not a liar” , she declared thus declared on the set of C the weeklybefore concluding, about her husband: “I am very happy to be his wife and to have made my life with him.”
