In March 2023, a video shows the extreme violence of clashes between Earth Uprising activists and the police. A gendarme films from inside his vehicle being targeted by demonstrators with throwing stones, Molotov cocktails and explosive devices. In June 2023, stone throwing faces tear gas. Tension has risen a notch between opponents of the Lyon-Turin railway line and the police.
A greenhouse attacked in June 2023
Again in June 2023, hundreds of activists stormed a greenhouse. Inside, they uproot salad plants and irrigation pipes and throw buckwheat seeds to denounce the use of sand, which impoverishes the soil. They go so far as to tear up the plastic sheeting. In capital letters, a slogan: “Let agribusiness burn.”
