Does the plebiscite for the jersey you designed in 1973 make you happy?

Of course that makes me happy. When I drew this jersey, I still remember it, it was yesterday. When I proposed it to the committee, there was unanimity on the jersey, and even on the whole outfit. This jersey was acclaimed in Italy as the most beautiful jersey in Europe. So obviously, I’m sensitive to that.

Do you understand that the supporters are so attached to these colors?

Yes I understand. I understand because a club, its emblem, is the jersey. So I fully understand that the Paris-Saint-Germain outfit raises awareness among supporters. And moreover myself, I have to say that the jerseys which are succeeded… Well, there is one which was very close and which was not bad, apart from that of the 50 years, which was the same as mine. I understand that a club needs to evolve and sell. Yes, I understand that very well. But I offered to design them two or three replacement jerseys, but which remain in the same vein. You know, when it comes to design, there are standards that only a designer can meet. The creators of successive houses are third-rate designers.

Did you discuss it with Nasser al-Khelaïfi or Jean-Claude Blanc?

Look, I have no contact with them. It’s simple: when I have to beg for a place in the knockout stages of the European Cup… In any club in the world, I would have my chair with my name engraved on it. Paris is probably the city where I am least well received. So I’m not going there anymore.

As part of our consultation, supporters also voted for the creation of a Paris-Saint-Germain museum. Would you be in favor of it?

Why not ? Me, I’m not against anything. Anything that can improve the image of the club. But I am very, very, very disappointed with the attitude of the current leaders. Very disappointed because I didn’t do anything to them. Some I attacked. I attacked Graille, because I found that their management was not good. But there, I never said anything. However, there is much to criticize! I have refused any interview so far, but here, I think it’s really… You know, the soul of a club is its history. And one has the impression that the current leaders only want to do one thing, which is to make people forget everything that happened before.

At the moment, there are a lot of changes at the head of Paris-Saint-Germain. Do you feel like things are starting to go in the right direction?

You know, we blow a head off. One more ! First is the coach, then the sports director. But real changes, there are none. Anyway, what changes do you want there to be in Paris? There is a fantastic squad. It’s the mayonnaise that needs to be swirled. That’s the difference between a club and a society. I have always run my company as I ran my club. But it always worked. The problem is that today, we can’t be buddy-buddy with the players and demand a certain number of things afterwards.

Would you be in favor of some players being put to the side, in what is called a loft?

No, ridiculous, ridiculous. It’s a club! That we sanction a player because he did something stupid, I don’t mind, but we are not at the municipal school! This is not serious.
