New Democratic Party Leader Jagmeet Singh became a father on Monday. His wife Gurkiran Kaur gave birth to a daughter the day after the politician’s birthday.
“Our little girl is my birthday present for life. Mother bear and baby are healthy and our hearts are filled with gratitude, ”Jagmeet Singh shared on social media.
This is the first child for the couple who married in January 2018, four months after Mr. Singh was elected leader of the NDP. He had announced the pregnancy of his wife on August 12.
The leaders of the other federal political parties did not fail to congratulate the NDP leader on Twitter.
“What wonderful news! Congratulations to you and your family! Sophie and I wish you all good health and many happy moments together, ”said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
“Congratulations! I wish you all the best as you both step into parenthood! ” Conservative leader Erin O’Toole said.
“There are few happier, more decidedly magnificent events than a birth. All my congratulations and those of the members. e. s, members and teams of the Bloc Québécois to Jagmeet Singh and his wife at this moment of joy, ”said Yves-François Blanchet in turn.
