a lightly injured man cleared from the rubble

A concrete slab collapsed on March 1 on the construction site of the Palm Beach hotel in Cannes. Help is on the spot. A victim was located and dug out from under the rubble.

A little before noon on March 1, a collapse took place on the site of the Palm Beach hotel in Cannes in the Alpes-Maritimes.

The building was under construction. A concrete slab collapsed.

A worker, a man in his 40s, was pulled from the rubble around 1:15 p.m.

This person, first classified as absolute emergency because of the risk of further collapse, is slightly injured.

The SAMU 06 services had him hospitalized in Nice for additional examinations.

The firefighters continue to analyze the resistance of the buildings so that there is no new collapse and to intervene in safety.

The structure of the building was greatly weakened by this collapse.

Hence an important feature: 47 firefighters as well as the clearing brigade, rescuers accustomed to searching for victims in the rubble, are on site.

No other worker is missing, according to the site manager. This morning, the workers were carrying out demolitions.

A police investigation was opened, jointly with the Labor Inspectorate. In fact, it is necessary determine if any safety violations have occurred on the job site.

The Palm Beach hotel closed permanently in November 2017.
