A liberal candidate “goofs” on social networks

After being talked about for accusing the CAQ of racism and xenophobia, the Liberal candidate Claude Vadeboncoeur this time had to defend himself, on Tuesday, for having supported a publication on social networks insulting the host Mario Dumont.

Mr. Vadeboncoeur indicated on August 24 on Twitter that he liked a publication commenting on the excerpt from a program by Mr. Dumont, on the LCN network. “You’re a mentally ill ostie, Mario Dumont”, is it possible to read in the commentary supported by the Liberal candidate.

In the excerpt, Mr. Dumont warned the Quebec population against a minority of people reacting badly to the containment measures imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In interview with The duty, Mr. Vadeboncoeur pleaded that he was a neophyte of social networks. His Twitter account indicates that he was activated in June 2022. “I may have done a bad manipulation, I wanted to hear what Mario Dumont had to say. Apparently my finger weighed on the screen,” he explained.

According to the contestant, he “unfortunately” seconded the comment and “intentionally” didn’t want to insult the TV host. Mr. Vadeboncoeur says he was ultimately unable to listen to what the host was saying.

Political attaché Catherine Dostie also assured that Mr. Vadeboncoeur had not acted intentionally. “It’s a gaffe, unfortunately,” she said.

Sanitary measures

Mr. Vadeboncoeur did not specify whether he finds that the health measures imposed by the government of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) were sufficient or excessive during the pandemic. “I’m not ready right now to answer that question for you,” he said.

The Liberal candidate has already been talked about this week when The duty reported that he had called the CAQ government racist and xenophobic in an email sent this winter to his CAQ opponent, Minister Isabelle Charest.

This forced the liberal leader Dominique Anglade to rectify the situation by contradicting him.

Mr. Vadeboncoeur, who admitted having written to Mr.me Charest in anger, did not want to say if he still thinks that the CAQ government is racist and xenophobic. This question has already been answered by Mr.me Anglade, we moved on,” he said.
