I am from Lévis: what Bernard Drainville says is false. Not all residents of the city necessarily want the third link. I’m one of those people who want better public transit service. […] Bernard Drainville will have to learn to say things with more frankness. Lies in politics, we have heard enough!
My girlfriend crosses to the north shore every day, and the traffic is no worse than five years ago, except when there are roadworks on the bridges. I cross regularly in the evening and on weekends to pick up my son at work in Duplessis, a little before the airport. It’s about 15 minutes by car (25 minutes when there’s a lot of traffic); by bus, it’s more than two hours, because the services are not coordinated, and after 10 p.m. my son no longer has a bus home. Even within the city of Lévis, if I want to go from one neighborhood to another, I have to take the car because public transit is underdeveloped! As I live in the Saint-Jean-Chrysostome district, south of Saint-Romuald, getting to Old Lévis requires between 60 and 90 minutes by bus, but 10 minutes by car… It’s not true that we need a third link! Instead, we need a real public transit service integrated with that of the north shore, because it’s not normal for such a service to be so deficient in such a big city!
