I want to salute the departure of journalist Robert Dutrisac at the end of June. I have been reading regularly for forty years The duty and I think he was one of his best columnists. I knew he was going to become one by reading his elaborate analyzes which appeared regularly on Saturdays in the B notebook. Before writing on a subject, one can guess that he had gone through it from A to Z. His memory is prodigious and his judgment, of the surest.
I would like him to remain a guest editorialist, as Jean-Robert Sansfaçon was. Or that he continues his “Duty of philosophy”, a brilliant initiative. His retirement would thus be smooth.
But Mr. Dutrisac may have other projects in mind. Who knows what “this formidable thinking machine”, as Lanzmann said of Sartre, has in store for us in the coming years. I bet he will lay penetrating essays on Quebec politics and economics. Another way to serve Quebecers.
One thing is certain: he will be missed by regular readers of the Duty.
