The lawyer, of Joël Le Scouarnec, Me Thibaut Kurzawa, filed a complaint against X almost two years ago in Saintes, in March 2020, for violation of the secrecy of the instruction, announced on February 5 France Bleu La Rochelle, confirming information from the newspaper The world. A few months after this complaint was filed, in May 2020, the La Rochelle public prosecutor’s office opened a judicial investigation and appointed an investigating judge. To date, this instruction is still ongoing according to the prosecutor.
According to France Bleu La Rochelle, this judicial investigation is open for “violation of the secrecy of the instruction and the investigation and public defamation due to the violation of the principle of the presumption of innocence”. The lawyer for the ex-surgeon refers to the publication of documents in the media, in particular these notebooks of Joël Le Scouarnec, even though the latter, not yet tried at that time, benefited from the presumption of innocence.

In December 2020, Joël Le Scouarnec was sentenced to 15 years of criminal imprisonment in a first case of rape and sexual assault on minors by the Assize Court of Saintes.
