Ten days after the attack on the prison van at the Incarville tollbooth, a judicial investigation is now open, the Paris prosecutor’s office announced in a press release published Friday May 24. “The investigations will now continue under the jurisdiction of three investigating judges”, specifies the prosecution. Led by the National jurisdiction for the fight against organized crime (Junalco) and entrusted to the judicial police, information is open in particular to the leaders “organized gang murders”, “organized gang murder attempts”, as well as’“organized gang escape”.
Occurring on May 14, this ambush, in which two prison officers were killed, enabled the escape of Mohamed Amra, a repeat offender involved in drug trafficking. The escapee is at this stage still wanted, as are his accomplices. Three other officers were also seriously injured.
The hunt for fugitives is also organized across borders, with a “red notice” issued by Interpol at the request of the French authorities. Investigators “have serious leads (…). Nothing is excluded, everything is observed, everything is examined”explained Paris public prosecutor Laure Beccuau on Tuesday on BFMTV, claiming not to “doubt” that the fugitives will be arrested.
