A judicial investigation was opened Friday, November 19 against the two individuals arrested Tuesday as part of the ultra-right movement, Franceinfo learned from a judicial source. The two individuals were presented in the afternoon to a judge for their indictment.
The judicial information is opened for “direct provocation by an online means of communication to an act of terrorism”, but also in particular for “apologia for an act of terrorism” and “offense to the legislation of the weapons” in relation with a terrorist enterprise.
According to a source close to the investigation, “the terrorist criminal association” is not retained at this stage, because “the investigations have not yet demonstrated the preparation of a violent action project” but investigations are continuing, in particular with the exploitation of digital media.
According to information from franceinfo, the person arrested in Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne) admits having administered several Telegram channels which relayed racist, anti-Semitic comments and calls for violent action. The second person arrested in Gironde is suspected of having sold weapons to the person arrested in Montauban but denies having been aware of his ultra-right ideology.
