The Marseille public prosecutor’s office opened a judicial investigation in July after reports from the Medicines Agency concerning the institute hospital-Mediterranean university infection (IHU-MID)then directed by Didier Raoult, in particular for forgery in writing, announced the parquet floor to AFP Tuesday September 6.

Judicial information is also open for “use of forgery in writing” and “interventional research involving a human being not justified by their usual care without obtaining the opinion of the committee for the protection of persons and authorization from the ANSM”said the prosecution.

This judicial investigation follows reports of the’National Medicines Safety Agency (ANSM) received in October 2021 and May 2022, and not at the request sent Monday by the Ministers of Health and Research to the Marseille public prosecutor’s office to take up “crimes or serious breaches of health or research regulations” observed at the IHU.

The ANSM had in particular noted “serious breaches of the regulation of research involving the human person”in irregular clinical trials.

The ministers’ request, based on a damning report from the General Inspectorate of Social Affairs (Igas) and its counterpart for higher education and research (IGESR), had not yet reached the Marseille prosecutor on Tuesday morning. , added the prosecution to AFP.

On Monday, Ministers Sylvie Retailleau and François Braun estimated in a joint press release that the report published by Igas and IGESR “highlights serious malfunctions” within the IHU-MI, created in 2011 and directed by Professor Didier Raoult until the end of August. “I regret that the Igas/IGAENR mission did not take into account the detailed legal and scientific response that I provided to them”, wrote Didier Raoult in a tweet on Tuesday, inviting Internet users to read it in full online.
