The three police officers taken into custody after shooting at a vehicle and killing the passenger on Saturday June 4 went free. The Paris prosecutor’s office has however opened an investigation for intentional violence.

Since Sunday June 5, the three police officers were questioned at the IGPN, the police force. They emerged free, after 48 hours of custody, Tuesday, June 7. “At this stage, no charge really weighs on the police since the declarations are in accordance with the elements of the file”believes Me Laurent-Franck Liénard, lawyer for the police.

The drama took place on Saturday June 4 in the morning, in an artery in the north of Paris. Officers overtook a car that refused to stop, then surrounded it. According to their account, the vehicle drove off again, hitting one of the officials. The police fired nine times and killed the 21-year-old passenger. An investigating judge has been appointed to investigate the tragedy on Boulevard Barbès. The officials involved could be summoned soon.
