The journalist of The Press Léa Carrier as well as sociology professor Mélissa Blais were on the show Everybody talks about it Sunday evening to talk about the rise in misogynistic discourse among adolescents in Quebec.
This appearance followed the publication last Sunday of a report by Mme Carrier.
For this report, the journalist spoke to teaching staff from eight secondary schools in Greater Montreal who testified to the growing influence of British-American masculinist Andrew Tate. Several experts were also interviewed.
In the wake of this report, Mme Carrier received numerous sexist and misogynistic messages, as well as insults. “These insulting comments that I received, in my opinion, prove the validity of the article, which says that there is a normalization in society [des discours misogynes] – and in particular on social networks where there are very large numbers of young people, and over which we have almost no control. Or otherwise, not at all,” she stressed.
Several parents and teachers also testified to Mme Carried their relief to know that they were not alone in dealing with teenagers influenced by Andew Tate.
On the set of Everybody talks about itthe two guests discussed the report, the masculinist movement and its effects.
