A hundred agents of the city of Saint-Étienne demonstrated, Thursday, September 15 in the middle of the morning, within the town hall, considering that the mayor Gaël Perdriau is discredited by the case of blackmail to the intimate video against his former first deputy, noted a reporter from France Bleu Saint-Étienne Loire present on the spot.

The city agents broke into the town hall around 10 a.m., after leaving the Coubertin municipal technical center, behind the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium, around 9 a.m. This action is organized by the CGT branch of municipal agents. The union calls for a moratorium on all administrative decisions that have been taken under the current mandate of Gaël Perdriau.

After having demonstrated in the premises of the town hall, a delegation of these city agents is currently received, at 10:50 a.m., by the municipality. This Wednesday already, between 100 and 200 demonstrators had gathered in front of the town hall to demand the resignation of Gaël Perdriau.

In addition, the departmental section of the Territories of Progress party, a left-wing component of the presidential majority called to merge with LREM under the new Renaissance party this weekend, is asking Gaël Perdriau to resign from his mandate as mayor and president of the metropolis. In a press release shared on Twitter by former PS deputy Jean-Louis Gagnaire, Territory of progress Saint-Etienne et Loire deplores a “national scandal” : “Stéphanois can no longer live waiting for new revelations, each more sordid than the other, nor in the paralysis of municipal life.”

Gaël Perdriau was released on Tuesday from police custody as part of the judicial investigation into a sextape blackmail against his former first deputy Gilles Artigues. With France Inter, on September 8, Gaël Perdriau had denounced “a conspiracy” to prevent him from running for the presidency of his party. Gaël Perdriau filed a complaint for “slanderous denunciation”.
