A hundred fires still in progress

Without any protection on them, in the middle of the blaze, they take all the risks to slow the advance of the fire, this Wednesday, September 18. It is a fourth night of fighting against the flames. A little further, houses are burning. It is dangerous to approach: CNN journalists have narrowly avoided disaster. A house exploded, but fortunately, it was unoccupied. In this village, the inhabitants managed to put out the fire at the end of the night with very little means, because the watering hoses were too short and the firefighters were not present. A 70-year-old woman thought she was living her last moments when the flames reached her house.

Leaving the village, you can see charred and still smoking forests. The fire is still smoldering sometimes. With a few branches of foliage, a man tries to extinguish the last smoke. There are still about a hundred fires in progress in Portugal.
