On Saturday October 21, 20 humanitarian aid trucks arrived in the Gaza Strip from Egypt. Another convoy is expected to arrive Monday October 23.
After so much waiting, the door betweenEgypt and Gaza finally opened on Saturday October 21. Humanitarian aid reaches the enclave for the first time since the Hamas attack. A very brief opening, only around twenty vehicles were able to pass. But for the Gazans, this is a first victory. 175 trucks parked in a line in front of the border were waiting.
A next convoy on Monday
“These trucks are not just trucks, they will make the difference between life and death in Gaza”, had affirmed Antonio Gutterres, Secretary General of the UN, the day before. He went there in person to demand the opening of this humanitarian corridor. The UN has warned: this convoy must not be the last, a new passage is planned for Monday. In Gaza, binational families are still waiting to leave the enclave, which has been bombed for 2 weeks.
