A human embryo and fetus were discovered Monday afternoon in a recycling center in Mimizan (Landes), franceinfo and France Bleu Gascogne learned Tuesday, November 28 from corroborating sources.

The embryo and fetus were discovered by employees of this recycling center, the national gendarmerie told franceinfo on Tuesday morning. The fetuses were sent to a medical team Monday afternoon to try to determine their origin.

According to the Mont-de-Marsan public prosecutor’s office, contacted by France Bleu Gascogne and which confirms this discovery, the embryo and the fetus were found in bottles filled with formalin. For the moment, it is impossible to know when they were placed in this recycling center, explains the gendarmerie. An investigation is open.
