A horror house deemed too vulgar is closing its doors in the Village Québécois d’Antan

The Village Québécois d’Antan located in Drummondville, in the Centre-du-Québec region, decided to close its horror house Hotel 31 in the haunted village on Thursday because of its concept, which shocked several visitors.

“The concept of this house addressed taboo subjects such as sexuality, sadism and vulgarity in order to surprise customers with discomfort. We are aware that this may have shocked visitors,” the Village said in a Facebook post on Thursday.

“Some notices reported that it could be degrading for the image of the woman and know that the [Village Québécois d’Antan] absolutely does not endorse this”, it was specified.

Patrick Oligny visited the Village a week ago and experienced this horror house.

“As you walk in, there is a video where you see a man and a woman having sex. In the next room, an actress is standing in front of us, topless, with a sex toy in her hands. Then there’s another actress with her hands tied in the air, with an actor next to her giving her very light lashes. The visit lasts a maximum of two minutes,” he said.

“I was destabilized and uneasy, but I liked it. This is what I was looking for and I was warned. There were warning signs as well as a person at the entrance who checked IDs to ensure that people 17 and under did not have access,” added the visitor.

For Julie Ouellet, director of CALACS (Centre for help and fight against sexual assault) La Passerelle, the project degrades the image of women.

“I don’t know where to begin to say how bad an idea it was to do that. It’s such a classic example of trivialization. That’s the problem with violence against women, among other things, it’s that we trivialize it, ”she said.

If the Village of Yesteryear ended up withdrawing this concept, the haunted village is maintained for the next three weekends.
