A homophobic attack in Redessan last week! A couple of men, Jérémy (the first name has been changed) his spouse and their 2 children had to leave their home after being threatened with death, insulted and harassed at their home by a few young people who usually gather in the Place Saint-Jean in front of their home.
It all started with insults in the street: “dirty fag, fuck you, we don’t like fags, we fuck you“sometimes in the presence of children according to both spouses.
Then the situation would have worsened after the couple complained about the dangerous firecrackers and fireworks lit just downstairs by these young people. “From that moment, the insults and threats have increased until that famous Monday of last week.” says Jeremy.
“Stone throwing, insults and death threats”
That evening, Jérémy and her husband decide to film the young people because the gendarmerie refuses to take their complaint without proof or pictures. Unfortunately, young people spot them.
This is where the situation seriously deteriorates according to Jérémy: “For almost three hours, Ils _rock the house, bang on the door_, sound unexpectedly. The kids screamed, they were scared and didn’t understand what was going on.”
Several times in the evening, they call the gendarmerie, as the 30-something explains: “They ended up coming, but left in 5 minutes. The young people stayed. Tonight they won. We, we had to flee our house that evening, we were exfiltrated by the gendarmes who ended up coming back, under the gaze and the taunts of young people. They were laughing at us.“
Four young people in front of the Nîmes court
None of the young people embarked that evening. For Jérémy, it’s a failure on the part of the gendarmerie, even if he recognizes that the next day, when their complaint was finally received, the gendarmes did an exemplary job.
“But it took too long that night it was we who were being punished“he regrets.
Jeremy and his family still haven’t returned to their home, out of fear. “My children can no longer sleep at night without our presence. They have nightmares“
Now an investigation is underway. four young people, including a 17-year-old minor, were arrested and must appear before the court of Nîmes.
