Taiwan was hit by its worst earthquake in 25 years on Wednesday April 3. It has been measured at over 7 on the Richter scale.

The island of Taiwan experienced its worst earthquake in 25 years on Wednesday April 3. The roads shook, causing vehicles to sway, whileedn the metro, passengers crouch down to avoid falling. Measured at more than 7 on the Richter scale, the earthquake was violently felt in the capital, Taipei. “I just laid there on my bed, shaking and really having no idea what to do.”confides Noé Baudouin, a French student living in Taiwan.

9 dead and more than 800 injured

The quake’s epicenter was near the eastern city of Hualien. A building sank several meters into the ground as a result of the earthquake. Emergency services continue to search through the rubble. Further on, a little girl was taken out of a building by emergency services. According to a provisional report, the earthquake caused nine deaths, including several in landslides, and more than 800 injured.
