An agreement was reached on Thursday, October 27, between Israel and Lebanon, which delimits the maritime borders between the two States, and ratifies the distribution of gas deposits in the eastern Mediterranean. We find Agnès Vahramian, in Jerusalem.

Israel and Lebanon signed, Thursday, October 27, an agreement delimiting their maritime borders. “It is a historic agreement and it is not trivial to say it, between two countries at war: Lebanon, under Iranian influence on the one hand, and Israel on the other, who have just agreed on their maritime borders”reports Agnès Vahramian from Jerusalem. “Why is it important for us Europeans? Because now these two countries will be able to exploit a huge gas field in the Mediterranean”says the journalist.

“Israel has committed to selling some of this gas to Europe. So it’s an alternative for Europeans to Russian gas. And it’s not so often that a solution comes from the Near East. Finally, of course, it is a step towards peace. Hezbollah, all-powerful in Lebanon, has suspended its military operations against Israel.”concludes Agnès Vahramian.
