North of Paris, a highway ramp has become a wild dump. In total, 450 tonnes of waste are piled up over several hundred meters.
On each side of the road, for several hundred meters, garbage piles up. This highway junction, located north of Paris, has been transformed into a wild dump in recent months. “I already saw them throw vans here in the middle of the night once.”, testifies a motorist who uses this road daily. In total, 450 tonnes of waste are piled up, 80% from construction companies, according to Grand Paris Aménagement, the owner of the land.
The site should be cleaned in April
Two hotels located near this road are experiencing the situation. “From my window, we see a lot of waste on the road”, says a hotel guest. This illegal dump is located a few meters from the Villepinte exhibition center (Seine-Saint-Denis), which will host events for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the summer of 2024. The town hall is requesting rapid cleaning. Grand Paris development filed a complaint. The site is expected to be cleaned in early April 2024 and cameras will be installed to secure it.
