A high school in Vénissieux (Rhône) was targeted by fireworks mortars on Thursday October 3. In the suburbs of Lyon, two people were arrested and an accomplice is currently being sought. The president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region has announced his intention to remove social assistance from the region.

A high school in Vénissieux (Rhône) was targeted by fireworks mortars on Thursday October 3. In the suburbs of Lyon, two people were arrested and an accomplice is currently being sought.

Under the watchful eye of the police, all students are searched and each bag is inspected before being able to enter the establishment. 24 hours earlier, in the same place, a scene of confrontation broke out. Masked, around ten young people fire fireworks mortars. Their weapon is pointed directly at the establishment staff. In front of the students, they throw stones and throw shopping carts filled with flammable products. A car is set on fire.

Yesterday, like this Friday, October 4, the high school students had class despite the fact that they are marked by this violence: “In all my schooling, I have never experienced such chaos”says a student. According to teachers, tension has been rising since the start of the school year: 60 incident reports in 15 days, including last week, projectiles being fired in class. Escalating violence that goes beyond educational staff.
