At Christmas in 2020, Guillaume Durand mourned the death of his father, the late art dealer Lucien Durand. This year ends on a positive note. The journalist is celebrating his imminent return to the radio, after beating cancer and contracting Covid.
Guillaume Durand fought his illness in the greatest privacy. He revealed Friday afternoon (December 24, 2021) on Twitter, announcing his return to the airwaves: “I find Radio Classique at the start of the school year. The morning remains for young people. Thanks science / medicine. First jogging after a hell of cancer operated for 10 hours on June 25. Then chemo and radio followed by a good Covid. Take fear by the hand and live. Be careful at Christmas.“
Guillaume Durand’s tweet sparked several reactions. “What wonderful news, my dear Guillaume! All the joys together: the illness behind you, the return to the air … the life that smiles again for you and all of us, many, who love you with such a long affection“, for example replied his colleague Michel Grossiord.”So happy to reschedule you on the air in early January, dear @guillaum_durand. You have been admirably courageous in this ordeal. The whole team @radioclassical can’t wait to find you“, added Jean-Francis Pécresse, brother-in-law of the president of the regional council of Île-de-France (and candidate for the presidential election) Valerie Pécresse and director of Radio Classique. A listener also expressed his joy: “2021 ends with good news. I rejoice for you (and me as a faithful listener of Radio Classique)“.
