The aid strategy for Ukraine is debated in the National Assembly on Tuesday March 12. MEPs must vote on the agreement between France and Ukraine in February.
In the National Assembly, deputies must vote on a cooperation agreement between France and Ukraine on Tuesday March 12. “We are at a tipping point in this conflict (…) To abstain is to flee”, warned the Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal. The National Rally wishes to abstain during this vote. Thus, Marine Le Pen says she supports Ukraine, while denouncing the risks of this agreement.
The text will be submitted to the Senate
The rebellious and communist deputies, convinced that this agreement is only a preamble, will vote against. Fabien Roussel, national secretary of the French Communist Party, denounced “an agreement which draws no red line, no prospect of peace and participates in military escalation”. Emmanuel Macron’s statements excluding no scenario are not put to the vote, but they have been put back at the heart of the debate. The outcome of the favorable vote in the Assembly is beyond doubt. The text will be submitted to the Senate on Wednesday March 13.
