A headmaster in Dordogne plans to file a complaint after repeated fire alarms

The students of the Albert Claveille high school in Périgueux in the Dordogne received an email from the principal. Pierre-Marie Gromier plans to file a complaint with the Public Prosecutor because he begins to get annoyed with the triggering of fire alarms for nothing. “it is about sending a strong message to be able to bring back the focus before the class councils” explains the principal to France Bleu Périgord. Fire alarms triggered for nothing, it happens in all establishments but at the Lycée Albert Claveille, these are serial triggers that have been occurring for a few weeks.

Fear for the safety of students and staff

Since the beginning of November, fire alarms have been triggered without reason in the workshop area, in a corridor. It is difficult to know who triggers the alarm but each time it interrupts the lessons and causes the exit of the pupils and the teachers. The principal Pierre-Marie Gromier recalls in his letter thatthere may be disciplinary but also judicial sanctions. He also indicates that these repeated triggers can damage the alarm boxes and above all he fears for the safety of the more than 1,000 students and 200 agents of the establishment. The risk is that people will take less time to go out in the future.

A new safety committee scheduled for December

A safety committee is due to meet next December, notably with representatives of the firefighters. The principal wishes to request the change in the fire alarm delay. For the moment, in some buildings including the workshop, they ring immediately. In many schools, they ring after 5 minutes, the time to check if there is something or not.
