“We really have activities for all age groups. I would even go so far as to say that no matter who you come to the museum with, you will find an activity to your liking, ”says Annick Deblois, project manager for the public program at the Pointe-à-Callière museum in Montreal. Indeed, the team is organizing three major activities this year that are likely to please the whole family in a program that runs from 23 to 31 October.

A show about the legend of McTavish

This show, which takes place on Saturday, October 23, promises to immerse the public in an atmosphere as historic as it is frightening. Visitors enter Montreal at the end of the 18th centurye century, and a lamplighter tells them the legend of the ghost of Simon McTavish, a British aristocrat established in Montreal and whose specter would still haunt the house, still visible in Old Montreal.

“Our storyteller is absolutely fabulous at marrying the historical side of the city’s monuments with much more fantastic aspects of our tales and legends of Quebec. He succeeds in making us believe in pacts with the devil, in witches and in ghosts. It gives shivers down your spine, you have to be strong! »Explains M laughing.me Deblois, recalling that this show is above all designed for a young audience ranging from 12 to 18 years old. This activity will be held during the last two weekends of October, October 23 and 24 and October 30 and 31. Since it takes place face-to-face, visitors wishing to attend must register in order to secure a place.

The ghost of Pointe-à-Callière, a virtual escape game

The escape game, or escape game, has been at the height of its popularity for a few years now. Particularly popular with young adults, it consists of finding a series of clues scattered around a room in a limited period of time in order to be able to get out.

The A / Maze company, a Montreal company that specializes in this field, is teaming up with the museum this year to create a virtual escape game in augmented reality. The ghost of Pointe-à-Callière allows the public to rediscover all the atmosphere of the historical museum at home in a ghostly quest leading them all over the building, completely recreated virtually for the occasion.

The appointment ? Riddles, codes and logic games to solve to help the ghost of Pointe-à-Callière complete his quest. An advisor from A / Maze will always be available online to help hobbyists. The game will be on the museum’s site from October 28.

Live the Tales of the Cellar

Finally, Pointe-à-Callière is collaborating this year with the Intercultural Festival of Tales for a brand new show called Tales from the cellar. It’s a spooky evening with professional storyteller Paul Bradley awaiting visitors who dare to venture into the museum’s archaeological crypt on Saturday, October 31. The public will then discover the most appalling tales of Quebec’s fantastic universe and will be able to satiate their eyes with historical vestiges of our heritage.
