A guided tour of the solar system, Pierre Chastenay and Thom

Space and its “mysteries” constitute a theme that hits the mark every time (or almost) in the form of a documentary album. And even more if the latter combines humor, attractive drawings and clear explanations accessible to ordinary people (eight years or more). This is the case with the new book signed by the popularizer and science educator Pierre Chastenay, which offers here a relatively “classic” overview of basic concepts in astronomy and a charming and instructive guided tour of our solar system – of these planets, satellites and other celestial objects. However, the book gains in playful interest thanks to the narrative in the form of small comics, which tells about this “extraterrestrial” guided tour and which makes it possible to better convey the explanation of concepts and somewhat complex phenomena. The aesthetics of the characters created by the illustrator and cartoonist Thom (Markus and the gecko) is reminiscent of Jacques Goldstyn’s little fellows who have lined the magazine for years The Resourceful.
