Three prison guards were injured by an inmate on Monday March 13 in the early afternoon at Condé-sur-Sarthe prison (Orne), franceinfo learned from the prison administration. Placed in solitary confinement, this detainee was to leave his cell around 2 p.m. when he pulled round-ended scissors out of his mouth. He then dealt several violent blows to one of the supervisors in the shoulder blade. The detainee is not radicalized, France Bleu Normandie learned from the Alençon prosecutor’s office.

Five guards quickly subdued the inmate. By surrounding him, two of them suffered bruises. The three injured were admitted to hospital. The one who received the scissors is not seriously affected, specifies the prison administration. The FO Justice union “wishes to recall the need to equip detentions and in particular ‘risk districts’ with PIE (electric pulse gun)”he wrote in a press release consulted by franceinfo.

The prisoner is serving a sentence for homicide in Condé-sur-Sarthe prison, franceinfo learned from a source close to the case. It was in this establishment that a radicalized inmate had injured two guards with a ceramic knife introduced by his wife, during a visit to the family living unit. The latter had been killed in the RAID assault. The radicalized detainee had been injured.
